31P-NMR signals from inner and outer surfaces of phospholipid membranes.

چکیده
We showed earlier [ 1,2] that PMR spectroscopy of phospholipid membranes in the presence of paramagnetic ions makes it possible to distinguish between signals coming from the inner and outer surfaces of a membrane, since the signal from the N+(CH,), protons of the outer surface lecithin molecules is considerably shifted in comparison with the signal from the inner surface protons. As there are grounds for believing that paramagnetic cations will interact with the negatively charged lecithin phosphate groups, one would expect larger chemical-shift differences in using 3 ‘P-NMR spectroscOPY.

Application of 31P-NMR saturation transfer techniques to investigate phospholipid motion and organization in model and biological membranes.
The potential of 31P-NMR saturation transfer experiments for determining motional characteristics (in the millisecond to second time scale) of phospholipids in model and biological membranes is demonstrated. A technique to separate membrane phospholipid 31P-NMR signals from those of small water-soluble phosphates in intact cells in liver tissue is also illustrated.
متن کاملPhospholipid domains in bovine retinal rod outer segment disk membranes.
Phospholipid behavior in bovine retinal rod outer segment disk membranes and in phosphatidylcholine membranes containing the photopigment rhodopsin is explored. 31P NMR spectra of these systems show two distinguishable resonances. One resembles closely the 31P NMR resonance normally obtained from phospholipid bilayers. The other resonance is much broader. Thus, there appear to be two phospholip...
متن کاملThe effects of F2 adsorption on NMR parameters of undoped and 3C-doped (8, 0) zigzag BPNTs
In this research, we studied the structure, properties and NMR parameters of interaction F2 gas with pristine and 3C-doped (8, 0) zigzag models of boron phosphide nanotubes (BPNTs). in order to reach these aims, we considered four different configurations for adsorption of F2gas on the outer and inner surfaces of BPNTs. The structures of all models were optimized by using density functional the...
متن کاملFrequency dependence of 31P NMR linewidths in sonicated phospholipid vesicles: effects of chemical shift anisotropy.
Phosphorus nuclear magnetic resonance (3’P NMR) is an increasingly important physical technique for the elucidation of structural features of phospholipid bilayer membranes [l-S] . In sonicated vesicles, however, the chemical shift differences between different classes of phospholipids are of approximately the same magnitude as the widths of the resonances themselves [5,6]. For many application...
متن کامل31P NMR of phospholipid glycerol phosphodiester residues.
Saponification of extracted tissue phospholipids yields a set of isolated glycerol 3-phosphoryl phospholipid polar headgroups from which semi-quantitative 31P NMR spectra can be obtained. The resonance signals from these molecules, which frequently have been reported as uncharacterized phosphate signals observed in perchloric acid extracts of tissue, can be used as an aid in the characterizatio...
